In 1923 W&R released the second of New Mikado; this is the second of Carlton Ware's Super Patterns. This veriation of the Mikado pattern was in production until the early 1960's. It is interesting that the patterns 2727 and 2728 where in production from 1923 right up until the early 1960’s. I have seen pattern 2727 on items with a W&R maker’s mark and on the paper labels on pieces with a Rouge Royale makers mark as the trio above is.

Carlton Ware New Mikado Jug (shape ) - pattern 4108
lime lustre ground - production era 1938 to 1940Pattern number 4108 is a pattern numbering anomaly; this number can be found marked on the bases of example of three different Best Ware patterns, New Mikado, Heron and Magical Tree and Babylon. All three examples are on the same lime green lustre ground and examples of undecorated shape have been found glazed in the same colour. At this stage this cannot be explained. It has been suggested that the pattern number 4108 is for the plain lime green lustre ground.
