The Fish & Seaweed Naming Conundrum

Fish & Seaweed is also known as Carp. There has been some conjecture over the naming of this pattern. I have elected to go with Fish & Seaweed as this name has been in use in printed material since at least the mid 1990’s. It appears in the Summer 1996 edition of the Carlton Times and again in the Summer 2001 edition of Carlton Times. It was also used in David Serpell’s 1999 edition of Collecting Carlton Ware. It was also used by Dr Czes & Yvonne Kosniowski in A Pocket Guide to Carlton Ware (published 2005) and Carlton Ware – The Complete Guide (published 2010). While I can understand the argument behind calling this pattern Carp I have made the decision to stay with the name that has been in common use. For the other side of this story please see this extract from Ian & Jerome’s Newsletter 61. The Fish & Seaweed / Carp Conundrum
