Presented here for consideration is an impressive Royal Doulton Bluebell Gatherers rack plate. This series was introduced in 1914 and it had been withdrawn from production by 1928. For a complete list of the scenes and all the inside running on this series, see the Bluebell Gatherers fact file attached to my art in pottery – also see the Royal Doulton Shapes fact file where I have over 500 photos of various Royal Doulton Shapes & there sizes.
This is scene 5: “Woman with basket of bluebells in right hand, being led by toddler.” It has a black stamped maker’s mark of the style that was in use between 1904 and 1932. It also has pattern number D.3812 is hand written on the base in green ink. Dimensions This rack plate measures is with a diameter of 26.5 cm (10.5”).
Condition It is in EXCELLENT used condition, with NO chips, cracks or repairs. As is most often the case with production of this style and vintage it is crazed – in my opinion this crazing imparts a delightful antique patina. There is a minor graze on the underside of the rim - see close up photo below with match head as a size comparison. This really is a delightful example of this colourful and very sort after series. This is a very hard to come by series. For Contact with Bruce of Nicholnack Phone (03) 9332 3883 or 0422 751 721 For email contact use link in the banner below
