Martin Boyd Cup & Saucer Australian Aboriginal #B130 PDF Print E-mail

Presented here for consideration is a magical Martin Boyd cup and saucer hand painted with a you beaut aboriginal scene. Depicted on the cup is a kneeling Aboriginal with a boomerang in hand; while on the back is a loan gum tree, this is over a deep terra-cotta gloss ground. The inside of the cup is glazed in a soft blue pastel.

The saucer is decorated with a brown and forest of gum trees. The art work on this set is just outstanding and so very Australian. The saucer is not marked, but the cup is marked ”Martin Boyd, Australia”.

This style of mark was first introduced in 1946, I would hazard a guess that this set dates from the 1950’s.

  • Dimensions

The saucer has a diameter of 15.5 cm (5.4”). When the cup is on the saucer it is 6.5 cm (2.5”) tall.

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT condition; there are NO chips, cracks, stains or repairs. The only crazing in evidence is to the blue of the cups inside.

Boyd’s decorated with aboriginal motifs are hot property on collectables block. I have not doubt that this has only ever known the comfort of the display cabinet. Hit the BUY IT NOW tab and so this magical art work will be yours.
