Royal Doulton Minstrels series is a collection of six scenes depicting Medieval troubadours. The Minstrels where traveling entertainers, they where poets, musicians and singers, Medieval Rock Stars, but I have a feeling their lives where far from glamorous. Royal Doulton’s New Cavaliers series is a romantic portrayal of the Royalist who supported King Charles against Cromwell and the Parliamentarians in the Engilsh Civil War. King Charles chaplain, Edward Simmons described a Cavalier as “a Child of Honour, a Gentleman well borne and bred that loves his king for conscience sake, of a clearer countenance, and bolder look than other men, because of a more loyal heart”. Royal Doulton introduced the Professionals Series in 1909 and it was in production in various forms right up until 1975; the exception is "The Bookworm" which was only produced until 1949.
