Series Ware Tea ShapesWhat must be remembered are the various series that where applied to embossed shapes often do not have shape names, such series include Famous Ships and Moorish Gateway, when I can identify shape numbers I will. What won’t be included in this category are jugs larger than creamers, (see the jugs category) and cake plates (see plate & bowl category). I will attempt to identify the shape name and the range of sizes each shape comes in. Teapots Earthen Ware

Royal Doulton Flower Market Heatherlea Tea For Two Teaset Please Note: While the creamer and the open sugar bowl are not a Heatherlea shape I have no doubt that they where sold with this teapot. I would sugest that the 2 cup teapots are very rare and that Doulton never made a Heaterlea creamer or a sugaer bowl in this size , so this shape was used.

Royal Doulton Under The Greenwood Tree Teapot; production era 1940 to 1951 Sizes6 cup teapot: 24.7 cm (9.75") edge of handle to lip of spout & 16.7 cm (6.6") tall. I must thank Heather Pitt for my example of this teapot. I have not been able to find any reference to this shape so I have named it "Greenwood Teapot". If you have a look at the lid I believe that the handle is a silhouette of Robin Hoods hat. I hazard a guess that this pot was a shape produced just for this series. Does anybody else have an example of this shaped pot in another series?

Teapot Stand or TrivetsMost of the trivet shapes can serve for several different shaped teapots, so in most cases it is not possible to name them as being for any one shape, there is however an exception to this rule. A trivet made to suit a Friar teapot really only suits a Friar teapot. I have decided to list the Trivet shapes giving each a letter to define which is which, except of course for the Friar as there can be no doubt which shape that it suits. To date I have identified 5 different shaped trivets decorated with Series Ware. Trivet Shape A

Slops BowlA slops bowl was part of many early teasets, it was a bowl similar to an open sugar bowl, but generally it was a bit bigger. The idea was that one could enpty the dregs of a cup of tea into the bowl before pouring a second cup.
