Carlton Ware's New Stork pattern was designed by Irene Pemberton in 1938. It went onto become one of Carlton Wares post war Super Patterns with at least twelve veriations. It was produced in large quantities after WWII and right up until the early 1960's. From the golden birch like bark to the teaming foliage and then back to the Storks standing shin deep in the pond, this is a glorious pattern.

Pattern number 4339 is very similar to pattern 4367, the only difference I can discern is that 4339 has more of the powdery white than pattern 4367.

Carlton Ware "New Stork Veriation"

This is the second example of this pattern that I have seen, there can be no doubt that it is a veriation of New Strok. I would hazard a guess that it may even predate New Strok and that New Stork is a simlified version of this pattern, hopefully all will come clear with time. Does anybody else have an example of this veriation as I am very keen to find a pattern number for it.

I have a carlton ware plate, that has the sticker on the back giving number 4339 and then 2379. It is in a very dark navy/black almost, with gold rim. When was this made? and could you give me a bit more information regarding this item, please?
